Life Chain Set For Sunday Oct. 1

In 2022, the Dobbs decision by the Supreme Court returned control of abortion to the states, and uncovered how vicious the battle for life can be, which means prayer is needed now more than ever, according to local Life Chain organizers.

Now in its 36th year, Life Chain 2023 will be held Sunday, Oct. 1st, from 2-3 p.m. in O'Neill.  Registration will begin at 1:30 at the corner of 3rd and Douglas St. Participants pick up signs and prayer sheets, then stand along Douglas St. praying silently for life to be respected in our nation.  All are welcome.

This year, Nebraska's Unicameral fell one vote short of outlawing abortion after a heartbeat can be detected, but was successful in banning abortions after 12 weeks.  

Across the nation, Pregnancy Resource Centers and pro-life Churches have been vandalized.  In August, five pro-life advocates in the District of Columbia were found guilty of violating a federal law protecting abortion centers and now face the possibility of 11 years in prison. Responding to the verdicts, Thomas More Society, the pro-life legal group that defended them, has called the verdicts an effort “to chill pro-life speech and activism.”, according to LifeNews.com. 

Life Chain is an opportunity for people of faith who value life and liberty, to legally, boldly, and peacefully, pray for unborn babies and for our nation.

“The battle for life will not be won in the courtroom or the voting booth or on social media, until it is first won in hearts … and prayer is the powerful weapon in changing hearts.” according to Boyd Holt Right to Life, local organizer.
