Lady Cards Down Broncos In Sub-District

Feb 22, 2023 (0)

Bronco Reagan Stracke holds on tight against Mya Hedstrom and Lorissa Reiman in sub-district action at St. Mary's last Thursday in O'Neill.

The St. Mary's lady Cardinals have been absolutely crushing lately, but just last week they really impressed when they took down Chambers and Stuart and moved onto State.

Last Tuesday was the first of the matches, being against the Chambers/Wheeler Central Renegades. The Cardinals got a good early lead, pulling ahead 22-7. Quarter two wasn't helping the Renegade's case, as they sunk further down by six points.

By quarter three, the Cardinals had their opponent pinned down 38-17, an almost impossible comeback this late in the game. Quarters three and four were much of the same as the first two, with the Cardinals absolutely dominating, 66-30.

Leading the Cardinals in this match was Mya Hedstrom with 20 points, shooting eight of 13 two-pointers for 62 percent, as well as three rebounds; Alissa Brabec closely follows with 18 points and two rebounds; Lorissa Reiman 10 points and seven rebounds; Hope Williamson seven points and four rebounds; Gracie Williamson seven points and three rebounds; and Annabelle Barlow four points and two rebounds.

After the CWC match, the St. Mary's girls moved onto hosting the Stuart Broncos two days later on Thursday.

This was landslide victory for the Cardinals, leaving their opposition only scoring less than half of their overall score. No quarter scores were recorded, however the final tally was 68-33.

This match was led by Brabec with 20 points, shooting four of 11 three-pointers for 36 percent and three of five two-pointers for 60 percent, as well as one rebound; Hedstrom just behind with 19 points and three rebounds; H. Williamson 12 points and seven rebounds; Reiman eight points and nine rebounds; G. Williamson six points and eight rebounds; Barlow three points and one rebound; and Emerson Mlnarik two rebounds.

The St. Mary's Cardinal girls ended their regular season with 19 wins and only two losses, which is a 90% win percentage! They also ended on a staggering 15 win streak with no sign of slowing down!
