O'Neill Native Earns 2019 Waters Memorial Scholarship

Avera St. Anthony's Hospital recently announced O'Neill native Sarah Hawk, a student at the University of Nebraska-Kearney (UNK), is the 2019 recipient of the Dr. Robert W. Waters Memorial Scholarship.

Hawk, who recently completed a new program as a mentor to young healthcare students at Central Nebraska Area Health Education Center at UNK, has been accepted to University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Allied Health, where she will continue her education in clinical settings.

She is the daughter of Theresa Hawk, who serves as case manager for Anthony Akainda, MD, an Avera St. Anthony's Hospital general surgeon. Her sister Mary Shields, RN, works as a registered nurse at the facility's medical nursing floor.
