Last the week the O'Neill Cross Country Team competed in the Boone Central Cross Country Invitational. There were fifteen schools that competed in the meet. The boy's race consisted of one hundred fifty runners, and the girl's race had eighty-six competitors. The girls were able to place eighth as a team. Sophomore Ashley Dickau led the Eagles with a ninth place finish. Also competing for the Eagles were Yoselin Cayax 51st, Nahomi Sunum 66th, Ally Sedlacek 73rd, Lauryn Dusatko 74th, and Jace Gregory 84th. “I thought the girls gave a really good effort. We will see a lot of improvement as the season goes,” said Coach Hilker. The boys team placed ninth. The Eagles had ten runners compete. Brady Thompson placed 26th, Ty Rainforth 31st, Kullen Cartella 51st, Mikah Raymond 67th, Elijah Kopecky 78th, Kyler Dean 87th, Tyler Diediker 91st, Gus Laible 114th, Carter Hickey 117th, and Ashten Burival 146th. “The boys team did not have a good opener. This team is better than they showed here at Boone Central,” commented Hilker. Next week the O'Neill Eagle Cross Country Team will compete at the Norfolk Catholic Invitational held at Sky View Park. High school girls will compete first at 3 p.m.
