William "Bill" Kohle

William "Bill" Kohle, age 84, of Stuart, passed away Friday, April 5, 2013, at Parkside Manor in Stuart, after battling Parkinson's disease for over 30 years.  

Visitation was held Sunday, April 7, 2013, from 3-8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary, at the Seger Funeral Home in Stuart.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 8, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Stuart with Father Luke Steffes officiating. Music was provided by soloist, Bonnie Krysl and organist, Deb Kaup.  

Pallbearers were Bill's grandsons: Dan Kohle, Ryan Kohle, Adam Barney, Jason Barney, Travis Barney, Scott Murphy, Dylan Maas, Chris Kohle and Devan Maas.  

Honorary pallbearers were Bill's granddaughters: Nicky Cadwallader, Becky Estill, Kami Simonson, Kristi Dada, Amy Wolf, Sandi Tielke, Katie Owens, Tera McCormick, Laura Sheffield and Kelly Kohle.  

Burial immediately followed the service at the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in Stuart with military graveside rites conducted by the Stuart American Legion Post. 

Seger Funeral Home in Stuart provided arrangements.

Bill was born  Aug. 11, 1928, in Stuart  to Hubert and Kate (Steinhauser) Kohle. He attended St. Boniface School through the eighth grade.

He farmed with his dad and brothers until entering the Army in 1950.  After he returned from the service he married Doris Davis on May 26, 1953. Seven children were born to this union. They farmed and ranched for 50 years before retiring and moving to town.  

Bill was a member of the St. Boniface Catholic Church and the Stuart American Legion Carlisle Post #115 for more than 60 years. He also was active in the American Legion Drill Squad and American Legion shows.

He was an avid hunter, fisherman and trapper.  He followed his children and grandchildren's various sports and school activities and enjoyed golf in his retirement years. During their 59 years of marriage, Bill and Doris enjoyed a good game of cards, cribbage and an occasional trip to the casino.

Bill is survived by his wife Doris; five daughters: Cindy (Kent) Barney of Kearney, Pat Kohle of Norfolk, Julie (Bill) Tielke of Atkinson, Laurie (Tim) Murphy of Valentine and Deb (Derric) Maas of Norfolk; two sons, Jim (Linda) Kohle and Jerry (Teresa) Kohle, all of Stuart; 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; a brother Bob Kohle and a sister Mary Kunz, both of Stuart.

He was preceded in death by parents; brothers, Fritz and George; sisters-in-law, Jeanie Kohle and Kay Kohle and brother-in-law, Bud Kunz.
