Virginia M. Hoerle, age 87, formerly of Girard, KS, passed away Aug. 13, 2011, in Longmont, CO.
Visitation was held at 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 19, 2011, at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Girard with Pastor Mark Wenzelburger officiating.
Interment followed at the Pittsburg Garden of Memories Cemetery in Pittsburg.
Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard, KS, were in charge of arrangements.
Virginia was born on April 10, 1924, to William and Hermine (Koepke) Roth in Potter. She moved to Alma, KS, at the age of two and lived there until she was 14. Virginia's family then moved to Chambers where she graduated from Chambers High School in 1940. She also worked at the IGA store which was owned by her father for 3 1/2 years.
She married Harold E. Hoerle on Sept. 25, 1941, in Bartlett. Harold passed away on Nov. 3, 1990.
Virginia lived in Chicago, IL, for two years while her husband was in the Navy. After Harold's Navy service they moved to Clearwater in 1946 and lived there until moving to Longmont, CO, in 1980 and finally to Girard, KS, in 1986.
Virginia is survived by four children, Janice Wright, Longmont, CO, Richard Hoerle of Manchester, CT, Shirley Ahlgrim (Bob) of Newton, KS, and Karen LaSota (Andy) of Franklin KS; daughter-in-law, M. Virginia Hoerle of Oronoco, MN; two brothers, Kenneth Roth of Longmont, CO, and Delbert Roth of Hickory, NC; two sisters, Clara Harley of Chambers and LaVaughn Fenster of York; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; three brothers, Milton Roth, Eugene Roth and William Roth; one sister, Elnora Roth; two sons, Donald Hoerle and Herald Hoerle; one daughter-in-law, Connie Hoerle; and one son-in-law, Terry Wright.
Memorials are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran Church and these may be left at the church or the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 518 W. St. John, Box 258, Girard, KS, 66743.
