Vickie L. Kalnasy

Bend, OR — Vickie Lea Kalnasy, 79, of Bend, OR,  formerly of O'Neill, died peacefully on Saturday, April 18, 2026 with her husband Glenn by her side.

Vickie was born on March 20, 1947, in Norfolk to Elton and Ruth (Klawitter) Roe. She spent most of her school years in O'Neill and graduated in 1965. 

Following graduation, she moved to Lincoln, where she attended the Lincoln School of Commerce and completed the executive secretary program. She devoted more than 25 years of her professional life to that career.

Vickie married Glenn Kalnasy on May 5, 1995, in Seattle, WA. Together they built a full and happy life centered around family, friendship and adventure.

She enjoyed staying active and especially loved going to the gym, reading, doing jigsaw puzzles, playing bridge and meeting friends for lunch. Vickie and Glenn also shared a passion for travel and explored many parts of the world together. After many years in Seattle, they retired to Bend, OR.

Vickie will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, sense of humor and the love she shared with her family and friends.

Vickie is survived by her loving husband Glenn Kalnasy; stepson Shaun (Laura) Kalnasy, and their daughters Isla and Chloe; stepdaughter Monica (Mark) Jagger, and their daughters Molly and Nova; brother-in-law John (Sue) Kalnasy, and their daughter Becky; sister-in-law Casey Kalnasy and her daughter Emma; brother-in-law Jay Mathews; niece Kim (Mathews) Svoboda; and great-nephew and godson Zach (Elizabeth) Svoboda, and their sons Eli and Max.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ruth and Elton Roe, stepfather A.L. Wood “Woody,” sister Barbara Mathews, nephew Mark Mathews, mother-in-law Nancy Kalnasy and brother-in-law Kent Kalnasy.
