After a solid season this past year, the Stuart Broncos were cut short by Archangels Catholic in their first round of the State Tournament, played Thursday, Mar. 13. Earlier in the month, on Saturday, Mar. 1, the Broncos cleared Diller-Odell to qualify for State play. However, when the time finally came, the Broncos came up short. The Broncos took a back seat to their opponent from the start, falling 12-6. They picked up the slack in the second and third quarters, bringing the game 45-40 in their favor. The Broncos were in a favorable spot going into the final quarter, but they weren't able to keep hold for long. The Defenders outplayed them when it mattered most. The Broncos were still leading going into the game's final few minutes. However, a few misplays and fumbles later, and the Defenders were suddenly right back on top. The Broncos watched their nine point lead fade away with two minutes left. The Broncos fouled out four of their key players and turned the ball over numerous times. When the final buzzer called the match, the Broncos had managed to fall by two points, surrendering the win to Archangels Catholic. Kayde Ramm had a big game with 29 points, eight rebounds and four steals; Hunter Tubbs had 19 points and five rebounds; Ben Paxton had seven points, eight rebounds and three steals and Drew Schmaderer and Owen Littau had two points.
