The Stuart Lady Broncos have certainly made their school proud when they were able to advance to Sub Districts last week and then win a wild card game to the state tourney. The Bronco girls started Sub Districts Monday, Oct. 24 night at St. Mary's, against Neligh-Oakdale. The girls came out hot playing well, it was one of the girls best performances with them not having very many unforced errors in the match. In the second set, the girls were flawless with no errors. The third set was also a clean victory, allowing the Broncos to take the win 3-0; 25-14, 25-6 and 25-8. Lacey Paxton lead the Broncos with 15 kills, one ace serve, one block and five assists; Sydney Estill seven kills, one ace serve, one block, seven digs and 11 set assists; Reagan Stracke six kills and 11 digs; Sarah Wallinger two kills and five ace serves; Addison Steinhauser two kills and three blocks; Addie Ketteler five digs and 12 set assists; Chianna Tubbs one ace serve and five digs; and Trenadi Dodds three digs. The next night the Broncos came up against a strong St. Mary's Cardinal team and they were ready to play. The Broncos struggled that night with passing both on defense and serve receive, which kept OSM on the offensive. St. Mary's swept the Broncos in three. The Broncos then had to wait until all scores were in that night to see if they had made it into a District final game. As all the scores came in, the girls took the third Wild Card and got matched with up against a 27-5 Wallace team. The final outcome of the match for the Broncos was 0-3; 13-25, 19-25 and 20-25. Leading the Broncos in the match against St. Mary's was Paxton again with 16 kills, and seven digs, Estill nine kills, one ace serve, six digs and 11 set assists; Stracke three kills, one block and five digs; Wallinger two kills, one ace serve and two blocks; Ketteler one kill, three digs and 17 set assists; Steinhauser one kill; Tubbs nine digs; and Dodds two digs. The Broncos traveled to Broken Bow Saturday for the match up to go to state and again the Broncos came out on fire. Strong serving and great defense came from every player on the court. They took off and never looked back, sweeping up the Wallace Wildcats in three sets and punching their ticket to the State Volleyball Tournament. The final score was 3-0; 25-13, 25-18 and 25-15. Paxton led, still crushing the competition with 24 kills, one ace serve and 13 digs; Estill 12 kills, six aces, nine digs and 16 set assists; Stracke four kills, one ace serve, 12 digs and one set assist; Wallinger four kills, one ace serve, one block and four digs; Ketteler three ace serves, two blocks, nine digs and 23 set assists; Tubbs one ace serve, nine digs and one set assist; and Dodds 12 digs and one set assist. The Broncos will play Thursday morning at 9 a.m. against number one seed Howells Dodge at the state tourney.
