Stoltenberg New Atkinson Early Childhood Community Coordinator

Mikelle Stoltenberg

The Atkinson Children and Families Coalition, Inc. (ACFC), recently hired Mikelle Stoltenberg as the new Atkinson Early Childhood Community Coordinator (ECCC).

Stoltenberg replaces Melissa Polinoski who has served as the ECCC since July 2020.

“The foundation for early childhood quality care outreach and the capacity expansion project that was created during my time as early childhood community coordinator is something that I am proud of. Atkinson is on a successful path in creating a stable and secure childcare infrastructure for economic growth and thriving children and families” Polinoski said.

Polinoski has accepted a new position with the Nebraska Children and Families Foundation as Assistant Vice President of Early Childhood Programming. This position will include working with Communities for Kids initiatives across the state of Nebraska to facilitate conversations among a community's public and private organizations and provide expertise, tools, and resources to the community to support the creation and implementation of solutions to childcare shortages.

Stoltenberg, who moved to Atkinson in 2018, previously worked as a market center administrator at Keller Williams Realty Black Hills and a consumer lender/teller at Atlantic City Federal Credit Union.

“I am excited to take on the role as early childhood community coordinator. I have cared for children since a young age. After becoming a mom myself, I learned the importance of early childhood development and quality childcare. I look forward to continuing the conversation and building capacity and quality care in Atkinson.” She said.

Her family includes her husband Matt and their children Miles and Molly, as well as her in-laws Brock and Karen Stoltenberg from Bassett.

“Mikelle has served on our non-profit Atkinson Children and Families Coalition, Inc. and is a founding member of the Atkinson/Holt County Communities for Kids initiative,” said Amanda Sindelar, ACFC President. “She has always been willing to assist with creating support systems for our local licensed childcare providers as well as other programing developed by Melissa and our volunteers.”

Since 2020, the Atkinson ECCC has worked with the Atkinson/Holt County C4K and ACFC to develop programming to support current licensed childcare providers; address future childcare workforce in the community, create partnerships with state and local businesses and agencies and purchase early childhood curriculum for all licensed childcare providers and supplemental materials.
