Marvin D. Stauffer


Marvin D. Stauffer, age 91, of Fremont, formerly of O'Neill, passed away early Monday morning, Oct. 15, 2012, in his apartment in Fremont.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont. The United States flag presentation was conducted by the Fremont Honor Guard of American Legion Post #20 and VFW Post #854.

Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont was in charge of arrangements.

Marvin was born Jan. 16, 1921, on a farm near Page where he grew up. He graduated from high school in Page in 1938. He attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln for two winters, taking agricultural courses. He served in the United States Army Air Corps from September of 1942 to November of 1945.

Marvin farmed in the O'Neill area most of his working years. In his retirement years he sold farm machinery. He moved to Fremont in 2005.

He had been active in the Methodist Church in Page. He helped organize the farm bureau in Holt County; had been a 4-H leader and a member of the Boots & Saddle Club in O'Neill.

Marvin is survived by his special friend, Coralee Holtz; four children and three step-children; a niece and two nephews; and a sister-in-law.

He was preceded in death by a brother and his parents.
