Courtesy photoLINCOLN — Tucker Stagemeyer of Page was recently appointed to Nebraska Youth Advisory Council (NYAC) by Gov. Pete Ricketts. NYAC is a 25-member council of 14-19-year-old students from across the state. It aims to increase the level of communication between youth, community and government as well as increase youth and adult partnerships. Members keep abreast of the bills, laws, policies and decisions that might have an impact on youth in their communities. The group met for its first meeting of the year last weekend in Lincoln where they learned about lobbying and advocacy and heard from Lincoln Public Schools Board President Lanny Boswell. They capped off the two-day meeting with a presentation to Governor Ricketts on their ideas on how to improve the education system. Stagemeyer is the son of Brent and Carla Stagemeyer of Page. He will be a freshman at O'Neill Public High School and is involved in FFA and 4-H. The Governor's Advisory Council is administered by Nebraska Children and Families Foundation.
