On the evening of Dec. 15 the Holt County Sheriff's Office in conjunction with the O'Neill Police Department investigated a shooting that occurred at 49164 Hwy. 20, west of O'Neill. At approximately 9:39 p.m. the O'Neill Police Department was called to Boselmann's Pump and Pantry for a male acting suspicious and armed with a possible handgun. The Holt County Sheriff's Office was called to assist. hen officers arrived, they found a male outside the store After contacting the subject a .22 caliber revolver was found on the person. The male was identified as Shayd Rohahr, age 19 of Elgin. During the investigation it was discovered that an alleged physical altercation took place, just outside the city limits, between Rokahr and a 19 year old male was allegedly shot in the leg with the .22 revolver that Rokahr brought with him. The 19-year old male was transported by family to Avera St. Anthony's in O'Neill and was treated for non-life threatening injuries. The identity of the 19 year old male is not being released at this time. Rokahr was also taken to the hospital for minor injuries sustained during the altercation. Once released from the hospital, Rokahr was arrested and booked into the Holt County Jail on 2nd degree assault, use of weapon to commit a felony, possession of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person/minor terroristic threats, and criminal mischief. Rokahr is currently being held on a 500,000 dollar bond. The investigation is ongoing.
