Ruth Pellatz


Ruth Pellatz, age 89, of O'Neill, passed away Saturday morning, March 3, 2012, at the Plainview Hospital.

Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m.  on Monday, March 5, 2012, at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at the Faith Community Church in O'Neill with  Rev's Paul Harder, Steve Randolph and Wes Thompson officiating. Music was provided by accompanist, Vicky Krieger and congregational singing.

Pallbearers were Allen Christenson, Carroll Gustman, Wes Thompson, Chris Rasmussen, Daryl Hoefener and Bob Rohlfsen.

Honorary pallbearers were Abigail Pellatz, Amy Haisch, Douglas Pellatz, Jr., Eric Pellatz, Ethan Pellatz and Robert Haisch. 

Burial was in the O'Neill Cemetery.

Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill was is charge of arrangements.

Ruth was born July 29, 1922, to Otto and Elizabeth (Hoffart) Gustman in rural Plainview. She grew up in the Plainview area and graduated from Plainview High School in 1939.

She married Reinhold Pellatz on June 5, 1946, at the Eden Valley Church northeast of Plainview. Ruth was a rural elementary school teacher in the Osmond, Randolph and Plainview areas. Ruth and Reinhold lived in the Plainview and Brunswick area where Reinhold farmed before retiring to O'Neill.

She belonged to the Out Our Way Club, Our Saviour's Lutheran Church where she was a Sunday school teacher. She later joined Faith Community Church.

Ruth is survived by three sons: Bill Pellatz of Osmond, Randall Pellatz and wife, Gayle of Flagstaff, AZ, and Douglas Pellatz and wife, Ann of Plainview; five grandchildren: Abigail Pellatz, Douglas Pellatz, Jr., Amy Haisch, Eric Pellatz, and Ethan Pellatz; and a sister-in-law, Gertrude (Pellatz) Bartak of Brunswick.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers: Milton Gustman, Dale Gustman and Clarence Gustman; and a sister, Dorothy Schulze.
