Ronald was born on Nov. 10, 1946 in Atkinson to Dale and Charlotte Barnes and was the oldest of their six children. Ron was raised on the family ranch and farm until he graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1965.
He attended and graduated from Denver University in 1969 with a degree in business.
He moved to Aspen, CO where he met his wife Terry Holland. The two were married in 1977.
He held various jobs on the local golf course in Aspen until he accepted a job as an accountant at Village Property Management, where he later became CFO. He later moved to Denver to work for Computer System Dynamics after becoming a self-taught computer programmer. In 1980, he started his own computer software business.
After the birth of his daughter Terra Ann in July of 1982, Ron accepted the CFO position with American Furniture Warehouse. His son Richard Dale was born in January of 1985.
He lived with his family in Lakewood, CO until 2011 when Ron, Terry and Terra moved to Sun City West, AZ to enjoy his retirement. He eventually moved to O'Neill after health complications to be closer to his siblings.
Ron loved spending time with his children and never missed an event in his children's lives. To those who knew him, he was patient, kind and generous. He was an expert at self-learning new skills and enjoyed passing that knowledge down to his son.
Ron enjoyed horseback riding, snow skiing, camping and spending time at the lake with his family.
