Roland L. Hornback
Roland Leroy Hornback, age 74, of Spencer, passed away Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.
Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service on Tuesday Feb. 14, 2012, at Brockhaus Funeral Home in Spencer.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Fairfax, SD, with Pastor Clark Gies officiating. Music was provided by organist, Viola Wittmuss and soloist, Penny Davis.
Pallbearers were Kyle Krotter, Andrew Krotter, Michael Krotter, Nick Oleson, J.J. Pritchett, Cody Pritchett, and Mike Schram.
Honorary pallbearers were all of Roland's family and friends.
Graveside interment was at 2 p.m. in the Union Cemetery in Spencer.
Brockhaus Funeral Home in Spencer was in charge of arrangements.
Roland Leroy Hornback, son of Walter and Martha (Pritchett) Hornback, was born June 28, 1937, south of Spencer, and attended country school near his home.
On Oct. 6, 1956, Roland was married to Rose M. Engelhaupt at Butte Community Church in Butte. The couple was blessed with five children: Roberta, Romona, Ronda, Roland Mark and Roger.
Roland worked for over 50 years at the William Krotter Company in Spencer. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fairfax, SD.
He enjoyed fishing, farming and being with his family and friends.
Roland is survived by his children: Roberta Oleson of Omaha, Romona (Dennis) Hespe of Spencer, Ronda (Jerald) Pritchett of O'Neill, Roland Mark (Mari) Hornback of Omaha, and Roger (Deb) Hornback of Brunswick; brothers-in-law: Gene Matthews of Spencer and Tom Schram of Louisville; sister-in-law, Vickie Engelhaupt of O'Neill; and aunts: Velma Wickersham of Verdigre and Lila Pritchett of Lynch.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Hornback; parents, Walter and Martha Hornback; sister, Rosella Hornback Matthews; and a host of cousins.
Though no one is able to change the world, you have made a significant difference in our lives. We will miss you Dad.
