Spencer — Robert "Theo" Theodore Johnson, 75, of Spencer, died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2025 at his home in Spencer.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2025 at Rosedale Evangelical Covenant Church, north of Bristow. Steve Matthews will officiate.  

Burial will be in the Rosedale Covenant Cemetery by Bristow with military rites provided by the Spencer American Legion Whidden Post 78.  

After the graveside service, his family would like to invite all of his friends and neighbors to Theo's house at 106 N. Logan in Spencer for food and fellowship.

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.

Biglin's Mortuary in Spencer is in charge of the arrangements.

Robert was born on March 8, 1950 in Lynch to Kenneth and Elsie (Lauts) Johnson. They lived for a time on a farm north of Spencer, then moved to the family farm north of Lynch. Theo attended Lynch Public Schools graduating in 1968. He was an all-conference football player. 

Theo then enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served in the Great Lakes, Vietnam on a Swift boat, and then the Philippines. He was honorably discharged in 1971.  

Theo attended Southeast Technical College in Milford. After graduating, he took a job with the USDA Livestock Research Center at Clay Center where he worked until 1984. Theo then returned to Lynch to farm with his dad for a short time before he took over the farm. He retired in 2012.

Theo liked to travel to see family and for several years did the Nebraska Passport program that took him to many stops around the state. He was always willing to help out with his friends and neighbors. He enjoyed driving his Ford Mustang. He took seriously the job of being the fun uncle. His nieces and nephews adored him.  

He was a member of the Spencer American Legion Whidden Post 78.

Theo is survived by his three sisters Esther (Charles) Nielsen of Niobrara, Kay (Paul) Hammon of Grand Island and Kathy (Tom) Love of Camino, CA; 11 nieces and nephews LeAnn (John) Konken, Julie (Mike) Wiebelhaus, Jon (Nicole) Scott, Becky (Jeff) Bruggeman, Ladina (Lanny) Morris, Anna (Mike) Sorensen, Douglas Hammon, Trevor Love, Kristen (Scott) Carl, Karyss (Josh) Bollen and Theo Love; 24 great-nieces and -nephews; and four great-great-nieces and -nephews; and his special friend Pat James of Lynch. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Elsie Johnson, one brother-in-law Richard Scott, one niece-in-law Brenda Hammon and one great nephew Franklin Love.
