Robert (Bob) Cunningham, age 84, of Norfolk, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2011, at the Golden Living Center in Norfolk

Graveside rites will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at the O’Neill Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the O’Neill American Legion Simonson Post #93. Rev. Mike Durre will officiate.

Bob was born Oct. 3, 1926, at Middlebranch to LeRoy and Laura (Stevens) Cunningham. He graduated from Page High School in 1944. Bob entered the U.S. Navy on Nov. 2, 1944, and served on the USS Kula Gulf as a Radioman 3rd Class. He and the crew all received three medals of accommodation. He was honorably discharged on July 5, 1946. Bob married Eldora Lowery of O’Neill on April 21, 1953 at Neligh. He was employed with the Chicago Northwestern Railroad as an agent until he retired in 1986.

He is survived by one son, Jeffrey Cunningham and his wife Diane of Lincoln; one brother, Dennis Cunningham and his wife Helen of O’Neill; one sister, Lora Lee Bergstrom of Newcastle, WY; our sister-in-law, Winnie Cunningham of Page; and several nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eldora; his brother, Dick Cunningham; and his sister, Florence Colvin.

Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
