Randy was born Feb. 18, 1950 to Donald “Mick” and Yvonne (Tielke) Chaney in Stuart. His early years were spent in Atkinson attending St Joseph's Catholic School before moving to O'Neill in 1964. He graduated from St. Mary's Catholic High School in 1968.

Randy's working years began at S & S Stores in O'Neill and he spent many years there before moving to Norfolk. He made Norfolk his home and retired from Walmart after a number of years due to health problems.

Randy had many interests throughout his life that he enjoyed. He liked playing cards, especially cribbage. He participated in many cribbage tournaments. Woodworking was another favorite of his. He took pride in mastering the power tools to create gifts for his family. Another favorite was gardening. He had a large tomato crop every year and he learned how to can so he could have “good” tomato juice throughout the winter. He also became an accomplished cook and cake decorator. He liked trying new recipes and whenever he found one he thought was the best, he shared it with his sisters.

Randy was an old soul at heart. He loved the classic country music of long ago and he would watch reruns of all the old western movies and TV shows he grew up on again and again.

Randy is survived by one brother Doug (Tish) Chaney of O'Neill; two sisters Debra (Tom) Rhodes of Grand Island and Micki (Bradd) Richter of Doniphan; four nephews Brian Chaney, Casey, Cory and Colby Richter; two nieces Amy Gokie and Kalee Battey; and several grand- and great-grand-nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one nephew David Peterson and special friend Cheryl Morris.
