Paul Shelhamer, age 77, of O'Neill, passed away Thursday afternoon, Dec. 27, 2012, at Avera St. Anthony's Hospital in O'Neill.
Visitation was held Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, from 5-8 p.m., with a 7:30 p.m. Masonic service at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at 1 p.m. at The First Christian Church in O'Neill, Rev. Wes Thompson will officiate. Music will be provided by Betty Thompson, Steph Olson and Donita Matchett.
Honorary pallbearers are Jacob Shelhamer, Michael Shelhamer, Joe McKenny, David Wirges, Virgil Holz and Kenny Barlow.
There will be a private family inurnment in the O'Neill Cemetery.
Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill is in charge of arrangements.
Paul was born on June 30, 1935, in O'Neill, to Roy and Verdella (Benda) Shelhamer. He graduated from O'Neill High School in 1953, and he attended two years of College at the Omaha School of Business.
He married Marilyn Carroll on March 8, 1957, in Council Bluffs, IA. Paul owned and operated Shelhamer Equipment Company in O'Neill.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in O'Neill, the Garfield Masonic Lodge #95 A.F. & A.M. 33rd Degree, the Worthy Patron Symphony Chapter #316 of the Eastern Star and the Tangier Shriners Omaha Temple.
Paul is survived by his wife, Marilyn; two sons, Kevin Shelhamer and wife, Bunny and Scott Shelhamer, all of O'Neill; one daughter, Wendy Dame and husband, Paul of St. George, Utah; three grandchildren, Jacob and Michael Shelhamer and Conor Dame; one sister, Linda Franklin of O'Neill; one brother, Rich Shelhamer and wife, Peg of O'Neill; and nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Rebecca.
Memorial may be made to the First Christian Church in O'Neill, the Masonic Lodge in O'Neill or to the Eastern Star Children's Home in Fremont.
