The regular board meeting of the O'Neill Public School Board of Education was called to order by Vice President Amy Jo Rowse at 7:30 pm, on Monday, January 16, 2023 at the Administrative Offices at 410 East Benton, O'Neill, Nebraska. 

• Roll Call

Administrators Jill Brodersen, Nick Hostert, Will Wragge, and Jim York were present.

A motion to excuse Bart Becker, passed with a motion made by Coby Welke and seconded by Aaron Troester.

• Reception of Visitors

Visitors were welcomed and informed that this meeting was in compliance with the Nebraska Open Meetings Act which is posted on the south wall of the board room.

• Oral and Written Communications

Communications received, either written or oral, were reviewed.  

• Presentation of Diplomas to Early Graduates

Jr-Sr High School Principal, Mr. Will Wragge, had the honor of presenting Selena Brown, Nickolas Greer, and Mikki Limburg, who have successfully completed all the necessary graduation requirements, with their High School Diplomas.

• Oath of Office

Newly elected board member, Monica Huber, recited the Oath of Office.

• Old Business

• Negotiations

The negotiation committees met on Wednesday, January 11th. Negotiations chairman, Coby Welke indicated that they have come very close to an agreement. The teachers plan to vote on the proposal on Wednesday, January 18th. No action is necessary at this time.

• Superintendent's Contract

A motion to approve a two-year contract for Michael Rotherham with an annual salary of $140,000 for the first year, passed with a motion made by Michael Hammerlun and seconded by Coby Welke.

A motion to adopt the Policy 3000 Series as recommended, passed with a motion made by Michael Hammerlun and seconded by Coby Welke.

• New Business

Vice President, Amy Jo Rowse, adjourned the meeting sine die for the election of officers at 7:56 pm.   The meeting was called back to order by Principal Jim York at 7:57 pm.  Board members present were Mike Hammerlun, Monica Huber, Amy Jo Rowse, Aaron Troester, and Coby Welke.

• Election of Officers

Elementary Principal, Jim York, called for nominations for President.  Coby Welke nominated Amy Rowse. With no other nominations forthcoming, nominations ceased. A motion to elect Amy Rowse as board president, passed with a motion made by Coby Welke and seconded by Michael Hammerlun.
