The O'Neill Pool is open for the summer! As a result of the collaborative efforts of the O'Neill Community Foundation Fund and the O'Neill Student Council, the pool will soon receive some exciting enhancements. Beginning in early 2022, the O'Neill Community Foundation Fund approached the student council to begin brainstorming projects that O'Neill's youth felt could help make the quality of life in O'Neill even better. The students decided to work towards increasing the amount of shade and seating available at the O'Neill pool. O'Neill Community Foundation Fund Advisory Committee members Jennifer Troester, Joel Steinhauser and Leanne Gotschall helped navigate the student council through visioning and grant writing sessions. Support for the project was also provided by Student Council Advisor Danielle Reinhardt-Sigler, as well as Sarah Sidak with the City of O'Neill. The student council submitted grant requests to the Holt County Visitors Committee and the O'Neill Community Foundation Fund. Between the two requests, the project was fully funded. This summer, be on the lookout for six new lounge chairs, a shade umbrella and an additional basketball hoop at the pool. The O'Neill Pool is open Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 1-5 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday 1-5 p.m. and 7-8:30 p.m. Learn more about how the O'Neill Community Foundation Fund strives to enrich the quality of life in the O'Neill area both today and in the future and how you can contribute to that mission by visiting www.oneillcommunityfoundation.org.
