Last week the O'Neill Eagles competed in the Dan Gee Invitational. Grand Island Northwest Public High School hosted the invitational. The O'Neill Boys Team placed 9th overall. Drew Morrow placed 5th in the 300 intermediate running with 44.06, and Oliver Schluns 6th with 44.26. Pryor Mathews placed 4th in the 110 high hurdlers with a personal best of 16.06. In the long jump Tyler Diediker jumped a season best of 20' 10.5” placing 4th, and Drew Morrow 6th with 20' 8.5”. Kyler Dean placed 5th with a season best jump in the pole vault of 12' 3”. “We had a lot of athletes who had their season or career best” said Coach Hilker. Trevor Alder ran a season best time of 5:06.04 in the 1600 meter run. In the 110 high hurdles Oliver Schluns and Ian Yates ran a career best in with 16.49 and 17.81 respectively. The 4 x 400 meter ran a time of 3:51.6. Freshman James Grenier threw the discus 114' 3” and junior Tate Krysl 91' 1”. Senior William Grosch vaulted 11' 9”, a personal best. The Eagles competed at Pierce on Tuesday, April 25. The Eagles will then compete at the Norfolk Classic Invitational Thursday, April 27th. Three Eagles have qualified so far: Tyler Diediker in long jump, Kyler Dean in pole vault, and Pryor Mathews in the 110 high hurdles. The field events will start at 4 p.m. and running events at 5 p.m.
