Ewing — Nicholas "Nick" Alexander Hobbs, 47, of Ewing, died unexpectedly on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2023 at his home in Ewing. Visitation was held Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2023 at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2023 at the Ewing United Methodist Presbyterian Church in Ewing. Pastor Janene Reynolds officiated. Burial was in the Ewing City Cemetery in Ewing. Memorials may be made to the family for future designation. Nicholas was born in Champaign, IL to Marcus and Peggy (Beed) Hobbs. The family lived in several communities before settling in Ewing. Nick graduated from Ewing High School in 1994. He was an accomplished football player, earning All-State accolades and playing in the SERTOMA All-Star Game. Nick married Kristina Osborne. To this union was born Dominique and Samantha. The couple later divorced. Nick later married Laura Booth in 2006 at Neligh. He gained a daughter Elizabeth and the couple welcomed three more children,A.J., Hayden and Isabella. Nick worked with his father at Hobbs Repair in Ewing from 1994 to 2005. He then worked for Werner Enterprises in Omaha and Portland, OR for a little over a year. Nick then returned to Hobbs Repair until 2013 when he went to work for DNJ Repair in O'Neill. In 2022, he started working for Prairie Hills Ford in O'Neill and was working for them at the time of his passing. Nick loved to hunt deer and fish. His love of the outdoors led to many camping trips with his family. His cooking skills will be greatly missed by his family. He truly loved spending time with his family, especially when he got to watch his children compete in sports. Nick is survived by his wife Laura Hobbs of Ewing; his six children Elizabeth (Josiah Schilousky) Burival of O'Neill, Dominique Hobbs and Samantha Hobbs, both of Norfolk, and A.J. Hobbs, Hayden Hobbs and Isabella Hobbs, all of Ewing; his parents Mark (Gwen) Hobbs of Ewing; his brother Jeff (Kristina) Hobbs of Ewing; four nieces and nephews Hayley Hobbs, Xavier Hobbs, Landon Hobbs and Jadyn Hobbs; six special buddies Kendyll Allemang, Alexis Campbell, Joe Ferris, Connor Napier, Trevin Hanson and Hunter Klinetobe; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents on both sides, his mother Peggy Hobbs in 1999 and his brother Sam in 2013.
