Nellie Carroll, age 98, of O'Neill, passed away Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 20, 2013, at Avera St. Anthony's Hospital in O'Neill.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, from 4-8 p.m., with a Catholic Daughter's rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a parish rosary at 7 p.m., at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday (today), Feb. 28, 2012, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in O'Neill with Fr. Francis Nigli officiating. Music will be provided by pianist, Toni Schneider and St. Patrick's funeral choir.

Pallbearers are Mike McKenny, Gary McKenny, Bob McKenny, Tom McKenny, Steve McKenny, Shane McKenny, Heath McKenny and Jeff McKenny.

Honorary pallbearers are Don and Mary Duffy,  Jim and Mary Lou Butts and Darlene and Debbie Denbeck.

Interment will be in the O'Neill Calvary Cemetery in O'Neill.

Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill is in charge of arrangements.

Nellie was born on a farm near Ashton on Sept. 25, 1914, to John and Agnes (Czaplewski) Pelanowski. She lived her entire life in Nebraska. She married Alfred Walsh Carroll on April 18, 1969, in Boulder, CO. He passed away on June 16, 1992.

She was a 51 year member of the American Legion Auxiliaries #8 and #40. She was also an avid pitch player and loved winning a dime. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and Altar Society and the Catholic Daughter's of America.

Nellie is survived by two sons, Frank McKenny and wife, Lynette of Omaha and Jim McKenny and wife, Patty of Denver, CO; one stepson, Bob Carroll and wife, Lois of O'Neill; one stepdaughter, Marilyn Shelhamer of O'Neill; 15 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Bud Pelanowski of Fremont.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Agnes Pelanowski; her husband Al Carroll; son Donald (Skip) McKenney; her sisters, Mary Norman and Florence Janda and her brother Ed Pelanowski.

Nellie will be missed dearly by family and friends.

Memorials may be made to St. Patrick's Church in O'Neill.
