MaryAnn Nissen

MaryAnn Nissen, 84, of O'Neill, died Thursday, June 4, 2026 at Silver Bluff Grove Senior Living in Aiken, SC.

Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2026 at Christ Lutheran Church in O'Neill.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2026 at the church in O'Neill.

Burial will be at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2026 at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Norfolk.

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.

Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill is in charge of the arrangements.

MaryAnn Koehler was born Aug. 2, 1941 in Norfolk, to Alvin and Ruth (Heath) Koehler.

She married Don Meierhenry in 1967. He passed away unexpectedly in 1987.  

MaryAnn asked Gary Nissen to dance on St. Patrick's Day in 1990, the couple married later that year.  

She has been a resident of O'Neill since 1970.  She started the Post Prom celebration in 1972-1973.

  MaryAnn spent her time and found joy in collecting antiques and photographs, spending time bowling, and sharing her love and compassion with the dogs she adored. 

She was a dedicated mentor and touch the lives of many young people through the Tom Osborne Teammates Mentoring Program. She faithfully served as a long-time secretary for the Fraternal Order of Eagles and proudly represented Avon for 27 years. She was also a lifelong Auxiliary Member of the American Legion and VFW.  

MaryAnn spent the last year in South Carolina with her son Alan Meierhenry.

  MaryAnn will be remembered for her generous spirit, kind heart and positive impact she had on those fortunate enough to know her.

  MaryAnn is survived by her two children Alan (Jennifer) Meierhenry of Jackson, SC and Lorrinda Hansen of O'Neill, eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, one sister Phyllis Siecke of Madison and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Alvin and Ruth Koehler, husbands Don Meierhenry and Gary Nissen, her beloved grandchildren Alex Meierhenry and Adeyinka Aboyade-Cole and brother-in-law Doug Siecke.
