Marlene Rosicky, age 67, of Lynch passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2012, at Missouri Valley, Iowa.
Visitation was held Wednesday, July 4, 2012, from 4-7 p.m., with a 7 p.m. wake service, at Assumption Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church of Sacred Heart Parish in Lynch.
Funeral services were held Thursday, July 5, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at Assumption Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church of Sacred Heart Parish in Lynch.
Reverend Tim Podraza was the celebrant with burial in the Parish Cemetery.
Brockhaus Funeral Home of Spencer was in charge of arrangements.
Marlene M. (Streit) Rosicky, daughter of Edward and Meldine (Haselhorst) Streit, was born Jan. 31, 1945, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Lynch. Marlene attended country school near the family home in rural Boyd County, and graduated from Lynch High School in 1962.
On Feb. 8, 1964, she was married to William “Bill” Rosicky at the Assumption Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Lynch. The couple was blessed with three children: Ron, Kent and Chad. Marlene and Bill lived most of their married life in Lynch, and have wintered in Mission, Texas since 2001. Besides being a devoted, loving wife and mother, Marlene also taught school in Knox and Holt Counties.
Marlene was a life-long member of the Assumption Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Lynch, and served on the Altar Society. She was a member of The Modern Woodmen of America, served on the Lynch Library Board, and was an active, avid bowler.
Marlene was dedicated to community service, and was an integral part of the Lynch community. She was a foster parent; served on various boards and organizations; was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed cross-stitching; but most importantly, a beloved wife and mother. Marlene’s caring heart and kind spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
Marlene is survived by her husband of 48 years, William “Bill” Rosicky of Lynch; daughter-in-law, Debbie Rosicky of Renton, WA; three grandchildren, Ryan, Cara, and Terryl; three great-grandchildren, Lex, Parker and Zander; her mother, Meldine Streit of Missouri Valley, Iowa; brother, Stan Streit of Osborne, KS; and a sister, Elaine Hansen of Logan, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Ron, Kent and Chad Rosicky; father, Edward Streit; brother, Lynn Streit; nephew, Chris Hansen; brother-in-law, Mike Hansen; and parents-in-law, Earl and Gen Rosicky.
