Margaret Max

Margaret Marie Max, age 92 years, 319 days, passed away on June 4, 2011.

Services for Margaret were held at the Shenandoah Methodist Church on June 7, 2011.

Burial was in the Page Cemetery on June 8, 2011.

Margaret Marie Farnsworth Max was born in Page on July 20, 1918, to Enoch Harold "Hal" and Bertha Marie (Knudsen) Farnsworth. Margaret spent her youth growing up in the farming community of Page and graduated from Page High School in 1936. She attended 70 consecutive alumni banquets at Page on Memorial Day weekend. She began her career working for JC Penny in Fremont where she met her husband Carl. They were married on October 24, 1941, and moved back to the farm in Page. Carl later purchased the Mobil station in Page and they made their home there until moving the family to Ainsworth in 1965. In 1967, they moved to Shenandoah, Iowa, where they lived the rest of their life together until Carl passed away in 1990. While in Shenandoah, she worked for many years as a secretary at the local nurseries.

Marie was a devoted wife and mother and was a stay at home mom when the kids were young; providing a stable Christian enviroment for her family. She was also a huge Nebraska Cornhuskers fan. The family has had six seasonal tickets since 1964. A great deal of the memories of Margaret revolves around going to Husker games and supporting the team. She was fortunate to meet many of the players and coaches over the years.

She is survived by daughters, Caroline (Butch) Hug, Marilyn (Dennis) Castle; and sons, David (Donna) Max, and George (Besty) Max and their families.

The families include nine grandchildren: Corey Hug, Casey (Kathy) Hug, Becky Castle (Jeremy) Vaught, Ryan (Andrea Castle, Amanda Castle (Brad) Schwarck, Crystal Max and fiance Andy Pappas, Andy Max, Marnie Max, Gregg Max and nine great-grandchildren.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Carl; and infant daughter Linda Susan.
