Lyle W. Butterfield, age 49, of O'Neill, passed away at his home in O'Neill on Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012.
Memorial visitation will be Friday, March 9, 2012, from 4-8 p.m. at Biglin's Mortuary, with burial at a later date.
Lyle was born July 1, 1962, the youngest son of Douglas Ray and Helen Lorraine (Lamoureaux) Butterfield in Eugene, OR. He was baptized in the Episcopalian Church in Norfolk. He attended elementary school in Page and graduated from O'Neill High School in 1981.
He was in the Army National Guard, then worked as a Merchant Marine, doing commercial fishing from Washington to Alaska for many years. He later worked as a utility engineer throughout the Midwest.
His hobbies included fishing and playing cards, and he was an avid reader. He was a member of the O'Neill Eagles Club.
Lyle Butterfield is survived by his mother and stepfather, Helen Lorraine and Charlie Hatfield of Apache Junction, AZ; one sister, Katy and her husband, Jim Drab of Strawberry, AZ; three brothers: Phillip and wife, Natalie of O'Neill, Bruce and wife, Margaret of Broomfield, CO, and Mike and wife, Melissa of Girdwood, AK; and a host of other relatives. Lyle was preceded in death by his father and brother, Patrick.
