Lavone Glee (Thorin) Schleusener, age 74, of Orchard, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at the Antelope Memorial Hospital in Neligh.
Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2011, at the Ashburn Funeral Home in Orchard.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 2, 2011, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Orchard. Rev, Lynn Riege was the officiant and Lynae Stelling was the organist. Songs were, "I Know That My Redeemer Lives, "Rock of Ages" and "What A Friend We Have In Jesus."
Burial was in the St. Peter Cemetery in Orchard.
Ashburn Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers were Gary Cleveland, Frank Meyer, Gayliard Myers, Mike Beelaert, Stan Clifton and Randall Robertson.
Lavone Glee Thorin was born to C. Edwin and Edyth B. (Edwards) Thorin on December 6, 1936 at Chambers. She was baptized April 4, 1944, at the Methodist Church in Chambers and confirmed at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Orchard on February 15, 1959.
Lavone graduated from O'Neill Public High School on May 19, 1954. On Oct. 4, 1958, Lavone was united in marriage to Vernon Schleusener at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Orchard.
In 1957, Vernon purchased a farm northwest of Orchard and that is where he and Lavone resided following their marriage. In 1993, Vernon and Lavone moved into Orchard.
To this union two sons were born, Leroy and Bruce.
Lavone was employed at the Bank of Orchard from August 22, 1955, to Oct. 31, 1976. In Jan. 1995, Lavone became a director at the Bank of Orchard.
She is survived by her son Leroy of O'Neill; many cousins; very special friends; Mrs. Desiree' O'Shea of Omaha and Randall and Deb Robertson of Orchard.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Edyth Thorin; son, Bruce in September 2008; husband, Vernon in May 2011; and Vernon's parents Herman and Frieda Schleusener.
Lavone will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
