Lance Michael Schluns, 48, of O'Neill, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at Avera St. Anthony's Hospital in O'Neill.

Memorial visitation was held Monday, March 31, 2025 at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill.

Memorial services were held Monday, March 31, 2025 at the mortuary in O'Neill. Rev. Mike Durre officiated.

Burial was in the O'Neill Cemetery in O'Neill

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.

Lance was born on May 30, 1976 to Steve and Deb (Petersen) Schluns in O'Neill. He grew up in O'Neill and attended St. Mary's Catholic Schools and then graduated from O'Neill Public High School in 1995.

After high school Lance moved to Wayne, where he worked for Great Dane for 11 years. He returned to O'Neill and began working for Christensen Farms where he worked for several years before working for Rowse Rakes for the past 12 years.  

He met Amanda Theisen and the couple got married on April 1, 2016 in O'Neill. To this union twin boys were born, Alexander and Wyatt.

Lance enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching the Chicago Bears and NASCAR. He loved spending time with his family, especially his twin boys who were born in January of 2020. He loved to work with his hands and was always building something, whether it be building a fence or painting the barn. Lance was a proud father and a great husband who had a heart of gold.

Lance is survived by his wife Amanda Schluns of O'Neill; his five year old twin boys Alexander and Wyatt of O'Neill; his mother Deb (Tom) Young of O'Neill; his sister Brandi (Mike) Flynn and their children Reghan, Brodey, Ellisyn, Makalister and Josiah of Central City; his brother Drew (Anna) Young and daughter,Blakely of Norfolk; father- and mother-in-law Keith and Vicky Theisen of Osmond; one sister-in-law Melissa Theisen (Jason Roeder) of O'Neill; and many aunts and uncles.

He is preceded in death by his father Steven Schluns and one niece Ayvah Flynn.
