Lady Eagles Win Over Norfolk Catholic Knights

The O'Neill Lady Eagles hosted the Norfolk Catholic Lady Knights last Tuesday and earned a 49-44 win. The Lady Eagles who have been struggling for wins played with the Knights well and outscored them 27-16 at the half.

The Lady Knights made a comeback in the third scoring six unanswered points. The Eagles held tough and fought for the win matching score for score in the fourth to hold out for the win.

Presley Heiss led the Eagles with 14 points and five rebounds; Lauren Young 10 points, three rebounds and three steals; Kiersten Welke six points and one rebound; Keeley Chavez six points, three rebounds and one steal; Olivia Young five points, three rebounds and two steals; Zelie Sorensen four points; Autumn Hilker three points and one steal; and Ashley Sidak one point.

On Thursday the Lady Eagles traveled to Atkinson to take on the West Holt Huskies. The girls had a rough first quarter being held to one bucket while the Huskies tallied 11 points. The Eagles came back in the second quarter to trail 17-15 at the half.

The Eagles then went ahead in the third 31-27. The Huskies had a better fourth-quarter out-scoring the Eagles 17 -12 and edging out the Eagles by one.

Lauren Young led the Eagles with 10 points, four rebounds and one steal; Welke nine points and one rebound; Sorensen eight points and five rebounds; Emma Smith five points, one rebound and one steal; Heiss five points and one steal; Sidak three points and two rebounds; Chavez two points and one rebound; and Olivia Young one point and one steal.
