The O'Neill Eagles girls basketball team started off the 2022-2023 season with a rough game. The final score was close, but they still weren't able to overcome the Valentine Badgers. Quarter one wasn't a strong start to the game, with both teams trying to get into the rhythm of the game, but unfortunately for the Eagles, it was a bad omen for the rest of the match. The Badgers out-scored the Eagles by nine in the first half and led at the half 30-21. The last quarter the Eagles tried to snap back, but the buzzer had already decided the match was over. Kinsey Buechle led the Eagles in the first game of the year with 14 points, shooting five of nine two-pointers for 56 percent, as well as 10 rebounds; Tacey From 14 points and one rebound; Jayda From nine points and eight rebounds; Malika Monroe seven points and six rebounds; Kimber Mcginley seven points and four rebounds; Kaetryn Bancroft two points and three rebounds; Benson Aubrey two points and two rebounds; Alivia Anderson two points and one rebound; and Cadence Swanson and Samantha Sprenger both one rebound each.
