Avera is pleased to announce that John Kozyra, MHA, HACP, will serve as the new CEO of Avera St. Anthony's Hospital. “The Avera St. Anthony's Hospital board and I are excited to welcome John to O'Neill and look forward to the leadership he will provide our health care ministry,” said Doug Ekeren, Regional President and CEO of Avera Sacred Heart Hospital. “He has years of leadership experience in a Catholic health care organization, and we believe he will help Avera St. Anthony's Hospital continue to meet the needs of northeast Nebraska.” Kozyra has been at Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Apple Valley, CA, since 2018, where he most recently served as the Executive Director of Operations. Prior to that, he also served as their Chief Philanthropy Officer. Kozyra has experience in non-profit leadership positions dating back to 2012. He will begin his new role at Avera St. Anthony's Hospital on Jan. 29. “It is an honor to be selected to lead Avera St. Anthony's Hospital into this exciting next chapter,” Kozyra said. “I am inspired by the mission of Avera and the commitment of the board, medical staff and hospital leadership to continue advancing the level of care provided in O'Neill and the surrounding northeast Nebraska region.” Kozyra will be joined in O'Neill by his wife, Lauren, and their two children. Kayleen Lee has served as the CEO of Avera St. Anthony's Hospital since October 2022, during which she oversaw completion of an expansion and renovation of the Emergency and Radiology departments. Her last day will be Jan. 31. “We are grateful to Kayleen for her many contributions to Avera St. Anthony's Hospital and the community,” said Deb Kelly, the chair of the Avera St. Anthony's Hospital Board of Directors. “She has provided outstanding leadership and made a big impact on all of us during her tenure.” “I have enjoyed working with the employees, medical staff and board at Avera St. Anthony's and appreciate the commitment of each member of our team to make a positive difference in the lives of the people we serve, as well as the community overall,” Lee said. Avera St. Anthony's Hospital has 25 beds and was originally established in 1952 as St. Anthony's Hospital. It has been a part of Avera since 1998. With a tradition of service inspired by the Sisters of the Benedictine and Presentation Orders, Avera St. Anthony's Hospital serves the health needs of north-central Nebraska with accessible, cost-effective care.
