Page ­— Kelly Herman Nicolaus, 65, of Page, died on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2022 at his home in Page.

Memorial services will be held at a later date in the spring.

Burial will be in the Knoll Crest Cemetery in Naper.

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.

Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill is in charge of the arrangements.

Kelly was born on March 8, 1956 in O’Neill to Herman and Leona (Bouslaugh) Nicolaus. The family moved to Waverly, Iowa and Kelly graduated from Waverly-Shell Rock High School in 1974.  

After graduation, he worked for several area farmers before moving to Butte in the early 1980s. He continued to be a reliable hired hand for several farmers in the area.  

In the 1990s, Kelly moved to Page to live closer to his parents.  

He started his own farm, raising stock cows, sheep and many bottle calves. He loved all of his animals, especially his dog Molly.

Kelly loved to take his nieces and nephews fishing, attending their sporting events, going to cattle sales and attending the Nebraska State Fair.  

He was a member of the Page Farmer’s Store Coffee Club. 

Kelly is survived by his dog Molly; his brother Kevin (Julia Hespe) Nicolaus of Atkinson; seven nieces and nephews Krystal Stucker of Missouri, Karmen (Eddie) Rotherham of Ewing, Kurtis Nicolaus of O’Neill, Kylea (Cole) Meador of Lincoln, Kodie Nicolaus of Omaha, Kasey Nicolaus of York and Parker Nicolaus of Atkinson; 17 great-nieces and -nephews; and Vicki Nicolaus of Page.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman in 2008 and Leona in 2011, and one great-nephew Logan Lee Strong in 2006.
