Judy A. Thomas

Judy Ann Thomas, 79, of O'Neill, died Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at Select Specialty Hospital in Omaha.

Visitation was held Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at the First United Methodist Church in O'Neill.

Burial will be in the O'Neill Cemetery in O'Neill.

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.

Judy was born on Nov. 7, 1945 in Akron, Iowa to Ward and Marie (Rozell) Smith. Her family relocated to O'Neill from Akron in 1955. Judy attended school in O'Neill and graduated from O'Neill High School. 

She married Russ Thomas on Aug. 31, 1968 in O'Neill. To this union three children were born Dick, Kim and Kristy.

Judy worked at the Holt County courthouse in the Treasurer's office for 53 years, she met many people and had formed many close relationships over the years. She was very involved in community service over the years. She was president of the school board at O'Neill High School and served on the O'Neill City Council.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends. She could often be found baking pies/desserts, cheering on the Huskers, Chiefs and Warriors. She also loved being outside with her flowers. One of Judy's favorite places to spend time was at the lake, she loved to go camping and boating. Judy and Russ gave their kids wonderful memories spending many weekends with family and friends being on the water, sitting around the campfire and cooking lots of good food.

Judy is survived by her husband of 56 years Russ Thomas of O'Neill; three children Dick (Michelle) Thomas of Windsor, CO. Kim Thomas of Nampa, Idaho and Kristy Sigler of O'Neill; seven grandchildren Taylor (Ryan) Bialas, Tori (Landon) Gonser, Jaden Thomas, Dylan Belik, Carson (Elena) Belik, Adelia Sigler and Ryder Camp; one brother Daryl Smith of Akron, Iowa; three sisters-in-law Sharon Smith of O'Neill, Helen Rager of Gordon and Ann Carter of Monument, CO; one brother-in-law Ray (Jean) Thomas of Seward; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ward and Marie (Rozell) Smith; and three brothers Duane Smith, Ron Smith and Jerry Smith.
