Joyce Ann Stahlecker, 72, of O'Neill, died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2023 at Arbor Care Center in O'Neill. Visitation was held Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023 at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill with a prayer service. Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 17, 2023 at Christ Lutheran Church in O'Neill. Rev. John Nelson officiated. Burial was in the O'Neill Cemetery in O'Neill. Memorials may be made to the family for future designation. Joyce was born in Falls City on March 7, 1950 to Ed and Ruth (Grove) Koso. She attended school in Verdon until eighth grade, then attended Dawson Verdon High School and graduated in 1968. Joyce met Rod Stahlecker at a dance in Lincoln and the two were married on Dec. 20, 1969 in Glenwood. The couple lived in Lincoln for a time before moving to O'Neill, where Wade was born. The family then moved to Page, to run the Page American Legion Café. In 1985, they returned to O'Neill and Joyce worked for Region 4. Joyce enjoyed taking care of older people as a home health provider. She retired in the late 2000's and spent time volunteering at the Red Cross Blood Mobile and Meals on Wheels. Joyce was active with the Eagle's Club, Christ Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Women. She enjoyed drinking coffee, visiting with people, taking care of her special granddaughter and occasionally visiting casinos on Saturday evenings. Joyce is survived by her husband of 53 years Rod Stahlecker of O'Neill; one son Wade (Linda) Stahlecker of Fremont; three grandchildren Makala (Dustin) Cross of O'Neill, Hannah Stahlecker and Andrew Stahlecker, both of Fremont; two great-grandchildren Jacey and Ryker Cross; one brother Neil (Denise) Koso of Verdon; one sister-in-law Susan Koso of Nemaha; three brothers-in-law Randy (Connie) Stahlecker of O'Neill, Roger (Rita) Stahlecker of Bloomfield and Gary Fagan of Hayes, KS; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Alfred Koso, one sister-in-law Roberta Fagan and one nephew Aaron Fagan.
