Joseph was born to Roy Frederick Mack and Betty Ann Tooker Mack on Jan. 18, 1948. In high school Joe was a cadet in the Civil Air Patrol where he acquired his interest in flight and competitive shooting. After high school, Joe enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam.

On June 18th, 1969, Joe was married to Patricia Rengel and they had two children Jon and William.

After serving in the Army, Joe worked as a mechanic (both automobile and aviation), air traffic controller and electronics technician with the Burlington Northern Railroad.

Until the early 1990s, he lived in Nebraska and nearby states, but relocated to Fort Worth, Texas in 1991 and married Lisa Day in 1996.

In Texas, he worked with various companies in the telephone and electronics industry (NEC, MCI, City of Denton) and did freelance carpentry work and repairs, including amplifier/speaker builds.

In the 2000s, he married a third and final time to Deborah Shera in 2004. They later divorced.

He transitioned to self-employment and spent his final years in rural Texas.

Throughout his life, he was physically and mentally active with a restless, inquisitive mind and was always tinkering with something, chasing some new idea. At the time of his passing, he was building a kit plane, midway through various electronics and mechanical projects, pursuing multiple hobbies and interests (the list was endless... amateur radio, motorcycle riding, flying small aircraft, building clocks, Mensa and an avid gun enthusiast). He unexpectedly passed away on March 15, 2021.

Joe leaves behind his two sons Jon and William; four grandchildren Taylor, Aydin, Oliver and Lauren; one brother Ed Mack: and two sisters Judy Froehlich and Deb Bingle.

He was preceded in death by his father Roy, his mother Betty and his sister Linda.
