Joan Elaine Colfack, 76, of O'Neill, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2022 at her home in O'Neill.

Visitation was held Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022 at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill with a prayer service.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2022 at Faith Community Church in O'Neill. Pastor Paul Harder officiated.

Burial was in the O'Neill Cemetery in O'Neill.

Memorials may be made to Faith Community Church in O'Neill.

Joan was born on May 28, 1945 in Ponca to Raymond and Mae (Harrison) Malcom. She was baptized May 19, 1946 by Rev. Sloan. She grew up on a farm between Laurel and Concord and graduated from Laurel High School in 1963.

Joan met Harvey and the two were united in marriage on Feb. 14, 1964 at the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Wayne. The two were blessed with three children Randy, Rodney and Rex. 

They made their home in O’Neill where Joan worked at Helen’s Café, Gibsons, worked at the O’Neill hospital as an aide, and in the dietary department at the O’Neill hospital. Later on, she helped care for Michal Logan.

Joan loved her family and spending time with them. She also enjoyed playing the piano. 

Joan was very active in her church life. She taught Sunday School, helped on Wednesday evenings, sang at many services, and was essential in creating the community church prayer chain with the influence of the Billy Graham Crusade. Joan is survived by her husband of 57 years Harvey; three children Randy Colfack of O’Neill, Rodney (Mary) Colfack of Norfolk and Rex (Melissa) Colfack of Wayne; nine grandchildren Brandon (special friend Stefani Richter), BrieAnn (fiancé Jason "Paco") Peatrowsky, Baylee (Camille), Brook, Brenna, Brady, Hannah and Hope Colfack; one great-grandson Landyn Colfack; one sister Janice (Jack) Stevenson of Broken Arrow, OK; and one brother Roger (Delcie) Malcom of Valley Center, KS.

She was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Mae Malcom, one sister Deloris Strong and one brother Don Malcom.
