Jim Jarman
Jim. D. Jarman, age 79, of Chambers, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2012, at Avera St. Anthony's Hospital in O'Neill.
Visitation was held from 6-9 p.m. with a Knights of Columbus and parish rosary at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday (today), June 14, 2012, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in O'Neill. Rev. Francis Nigli will officate. Music will be provided by Sharon and Ella Spencer.
Honorary pallbearers are Andrew Rokusek, Terry Adair, Jason Cameron, Connor Jarman, Spencer Jarman and Josh Campbell.
Burial will be in the O'Neill Calvary Cemetery.
Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill is in charge of arrangements.
Jim was born on Feb. 7, 1933, at Chambers, to Richard C. and Lenora Jarman. He graduated from Chambers Public School in 1951.
He married Sandra Harper on June 15, 1957, at St. Pius Xth Catholic Church in Omaha. They were blessed with five children: JoLynn, John, David, Daniel and Jan.
They spent four years ranching at Bassett, then returned to Chambers. Jim started his gravel business in the mid 60's.
Trucking was one of Jim's earliest loves and "Mack" trucks were his favorites. After retiring, Jim still drove trucks for various construction companies.
He was very active in his church, St. Joseph's in Amelia. He served on the parish council, was a lector, taught CCD and was an eucharistic minister. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and made his cursillo in the 70's.
He served his community on the school board, the town board and was on the fire department for 36 years. Jim is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sandra; four children and their spouses: JoLynn and Kelly Cameron of Amelia, John and Melody Jarman of Norfolk, David and Charlotte Jarman of Stuart and Daniel and Stacey Jarman of Lincoln; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Maria Harper of Stuart; plus many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jan; his parents, Dick and Lenora Jarman; his father-in-law, Gordon Harper and his sister, Neva Hash.
Memorials may be made to the Chambers Fire Department, St. Joseph's Church of Amelia and the Coyote Fitness Center at Chambers.
