Atkinson — Jaynell Jean Schaaf, 76, of Atkinson died Monday, Sept. 25, 2023 at her home in Atkinson. Visitation will be held from 8-11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 29, 2023 at Seger Funeral Home in Atkinson. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 29, 2023 at the funeral home in Atkinson. Pastor Mike Durre will officiate. Music will be provided by organist Deb Kaup and soloist Deb Kaup. Pallbearers will be Craig Ford, Jon Ford, Christopher Judge, Ron Krysl, Dennis Lines and Gavin Murray. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Atkinson. Memorials may be made to the family for future designation. Jaynell was born Oct. 15th, 1946 in O'Neill to Jerome and Francis (Gamel) Ford. She was the first born of 11 children. She passed away on Sept. 25th, 2023 at her home in Atkinson at the age of 76. Jaynell attended O'Neill Public High School to finish the 12th grade. Her mother was a nurse and her father was a traveling truck driver. Jaynell helped to raise her 10 younger siblings. Jaynell met the love of her life Daniel Schaaf Sr. during her years in O'Neill Public School. They were together for just under a year when Jaynell knew it was meant to be and agreed to marry her high school sweetheart. Jaynell and Daniel were married on June 5th, 1963 in O'Neill. To this union one son was born Daniel Schaaf Jr. Jaynell and Daniel spent their lives and raised their son in the Atkinson community. Upon marriage Jaynell and Daniel spent much of their time working on Daniel's family farm. Jaynell and Daniel decided to pursue their own businesses. Jaynell assisted Daniel in his irrigation trade while she sold Avon from home. Jaynell was then able to fulfil her dream of becoming a business owner herself when she opened a dog kennel. Jaynell enjoyed everything outdoors. She was an avid fisher and enjoyed additional hobbies such as hunting, camping and gardening. Jaynell and Daniel wanted to travel to various areas of the country upon retiring from their respected fields. Jaynell especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be remembered for her loving nature, stories and sassy remarks. She found pleasure in making her loved ones laugh. Jaynell is survived by her son Daniel (Kimberly) Schaaf Jr. of Atkinson; her five grandchildren Christopher (Brittany) Schaaf of Early, Iowa, Brenda Johnson of Avoca, Iowa, Rick (Jackie) Naylor Jr. of Elba, Renee (Christopher Judge) Howell and Michelle (Gavin) Murray, all of Atkinson; her godchild Savannah Schaaf of Cairo; her seven siblings Brenda Halstead of O'Neill, Jon (Emma) Ford of Evansville, MN, Craig (Patrice) Ford of Omaha, Terri (Kevin) Wolfgram of Columbus, Nancy (Dennis) Lines of O'Neill, Susan Cook of Plattsmouth and Stephen Ford of O'Neill; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law Ron (Annabelle) Schaaf of Giltner; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Jermone and Frances Ford; husband Daniel Schaaf Sr.; and three siblings Bruce Ford, Carol Tenberg and Jerry Ford.
