Irene O. Appleby

Irene O. Appleby, age 95, of Hadar, passed away Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at St. Joseph's Rehabilitation and Care Center.

Visitation was held on Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, from 5-7 p.m. at Home for Funerals in Norfolk.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Christ Is King Community Church in Norfolk.

Burial was in the Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Norfolk.

Home for Funerals in Norfolk was in charge of arrangements.

Irene was born on March 22, 1917, at Clearwater to Phillip and Josephine (Bowers) Scheer.  She attended school at Neligh. On July 4, 1939, she married Clifford Wiseman at Hadar and they had three children.

Irene lived in the Clearwater area until 1950 when she married Robert Appleby on Jan. 18, 1950, at Lake Andes, SD. They had one daughter.

They lived in the Pilger area until 1956 when they moved near Hadar. Irene was the bookkeeper for Pleasant View Mobile Home Park from 1976 until 2008, when the moved to Hadar.

Irene is survived by her husband of 62 years, Robert of Hadar; her children: Dennis and Judy Wiseman of Littleton, CO; Terry and Sandy Wiseman and Sandra and Richard Strauss, all of Norfolk; and Cindy Libengood of Hadar; 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jack and Wayne Scheer; and four sisters, Clara Young, Phoebe Petrie, Josephine Petersen and Gertrude Allen.
