The Holt County Fair will kick-off next week on Wednesday, Aug. 10 and run through Saturday, Aug. 13 in Chambers. Running Wednesday through Saturday will be a free carnival. Corn dogs, cotton candy, funnel cakes and more will be served at the carnival. Kicking off the fair events is Mutton Bust'n for the kids on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Sign up for this event starts at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Ranch Rodeo will begin at 7 p.m., ending the events for Wednesday. Remember that kids 12 and under get into the fair completely FREE during the Wednesday events only. Thursday from 4 -10 p.m. there will be a variety of events to keep the young ones interested. In addition to the free carnival, blow- ups and kids game tent, mini-golf will be available. Thursday night will end with the MSRA Rodeo at 7:30 p.m. Friday will offer the same events at the same times as Thursday, but Friday will be more jam packed with excitement and fun. At 5 p.m., the market livestock bonus auction will be held. Followed up by the free watermelon feed and free will donation BBQ at 5:30 p.m. The Aksarben awards will be held at 7 p.m., with the MSRA Rodeo being held at the same time as the previous day. 9 p.m. brings Friday to close with the Phil Vandel concert. Phil has been traveling around the world, bringing his unique style of singing and song writing to audiences all around the world. Don't miss this opportunity to see him live in concert from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday, the final day of the fair, is the most exciting of the days so far, and something you'll certainly want to be there for. 9 a.m. kicks off the volleyball and cornhole games, which will go until 4 p.m. The pedal tractor pull will start at about 3 p.m. right after the dairy cattle show is over. The BBQ Rib cookoff will last for about 2 hours starting at 4 p.m. 4 to 10 p.m. will still offer blow- ups, kids game tent, and mini-golf. The 6 p.m. demolition derby is the perfect family get-together event that will captivate audiences of all ages. Saturday will conclude with the Eastern Heights concert from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern Heights is a modern country duo. While they have their roots in country music, they are very versatile in what genres they can play. Remember that the free carnival will be running from Wednesday to Saturday the whole time!
