Holt County Department of Weeds Proceedings (03-28-2024)

Date: March 7, 2024

The Holt County Weed Board met in regular session. This meeting publicized pursuant to Section 84-1411 R.R.S, 1943 Notice of meeting given in advance thereof by publication in paper as shown by Affidavit of Publication on February 29, 2024 in the Holt County Independent. John Hammerlun convened the meeting at 6:00 P.M. and informed the public of the location of the Open Meeting Poster. 

Present: Dan Drueke, Tom Welsh, Dan Pribil, Kevin DeKay, John Hammerlun, Supervisor Dustin Breiner and Weed Superintendent William Babutzke. 

Minutes Approved: Tom Welsh made a motion to approve the minutes and Dan Pribil seconded. All approved

Claims Approved: Dan Drueke made a motion to approve the claims and pre approve two bills not yet arrived, and Kevin DeKay seconded. All approved.

Old Business: N/A

New Business: 

Thirty hours left on skid loader. Will go to the northeast section of the county and start shredding. Shredding will be ending soon. 

Discussion of the tin for shop. The contractor thinks he will be here in April.

The label for Trurange did not get a range and pasture label hopefully by next year.

Information on the following list of twelve noxious weeds found in Nebraska can be located at the neweed.org website with sufficient information on each noxious weed. 

Canada Thistle, Musk Thistle, Plumeless Thistle, Purple Loosestrife, Spotted Knapweed, Diffuse Knapweed, Saltcedar, Phragmites, Giant Knotweed, Japanese Knotweed, Sericea Lespedeza, Leafy Spurge.

Next meeting April 11, 2024 at 7:00 pm at the Holt County Weed Office. 

Dan Pribil made a motion to adjourn the meeting, Dan Drueke seconded. All approved. Meeting adjourned at 6:45 pm.
