Harlan Keith Urban was born on July 12, 1935, in Bliss to Frank and Mae (Honeywell) Urban. He was the fifth of six children.  He attended grade school through the seventh grade, then stayed home and worked on the family farm.  He farmed on the home place until 1971.

Harlan then became a truck driver for several companies. He decided that his passion was in trucking so he bought his own truck and continued trucking until retiring in 1992.

He loved the outdoors, spending his spare time fishing, hunting and trapping. Harlan also loved target practicing, going camping and riding his moped. He always had big vegetable and flower gardens which he enjoyed sharing with his neighbors, family and friends.  He loved to watch westerns and wrestling on television.  He also loved to strike up a conversation about the past with anyone.

Harlan is survived by a very dear and special friend, Lois Kay Martin of Atkinson; one daughter, Cynthia DeKay and husband Bruce of O’Neill; one grandson, Ethan DeKay of O’Neill;  one sister, Charlotte Walden and  husband Kenn of Lakewood, CO; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mae; two sisters, Helen Gordon and Viola Streeter; and three brothers, Leo, Lawrence and Ottis Earl in infancy.
