Great Times During the Great Race

first place Amelia's Angels (l-r): Tammy Barrelman, Cathy Pavel, Mary Jo Doolittle and Ree Laetsch.

SECOND PLACE Cash Creek Navigators  (l-r): Gary and Lori Barlow and Mike and Theresa Hawk.

Holt County Economic Development's first annual Great Race was a smashing success this past weekend. With 11 teams all competing for a chance for the cash prizes, the competition came down to strategy.

Participants had to correctly solve the 50 clues and take their team's picture at the corresponding location. Clues took them to Atkinson, Chambers, Emmet, Ewing, Inman, O'Neill, Page and Stuart. The race started promptly at 2 p.m. in O'Neill and participants had to be across the finish line by 5:30 p.m. at the Holt County Fairgrounds with as many of the clues and photos as possible.

Winning first place and the $250 cash prize were the 'Amelia Angels." This team answered 49 out of 50 clues correctly. Team members included Tammy Barelmann, Mary Jo Doolittle, Ree Laetsch and Cathy Pavel.

Second place winners of the $150 cash were the Cash Creek Navigators. Team members included Gary and Lori Barlow and Mike and Theresa Hawk.

Third place winners of the $50 cash was the Schindler's List team of Scott and LuAnn Schindler.
