Gloria Donohoe

Gloria Donohoe, age 79, of O'Neill, passed away Wednesday morning, March 6, 2013, at the Golden LivingCenter in Grand Island.

Visitation was held on Friday, March 8, 2013, from 5-8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at 10 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in O'Neill with Pastor Wayne Owens officiating. Music was provided by organist, Laurie Hacker and soloist, Shandy Loberg.

Pallbearers were Paul Morlang, Jon Morlang, Jeff Morlang, Chase Morlang, Nathan Morlang and Steve Fisher.

Honorary pallbearers were Kerri Lee Fisher, Jan Wanser and Cecelia Bazelman.

Burial was in the O'Neill Cemetery in O'Neill.

Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill was in charge of arrangements.

Gloria was born on May 6, 1933, in Edgemont, SD, to John and Florence (Davis) McElhaney. She graduated from Edgemont High School in 1950 and earned a B.A. degree from Northeast Tech. She taught in a rural school in South Dakota for a couple of years.

She married George Morlang on May 17, 1951, in Batesland, SD. They were divorced later on. On Aug. 19, 1967, she married Edward J. Donohoe in Neligh. 

Gloria was an area supervisor for social services from Broken Bow to Sioux City, she retired in 1977. She then worked for CNCS until 2002 and the O'Neill Shopper until 2004. She also spent many years with the Experience Works Agency in the Green Thumb Department working with the elderly. 

She was a member of the Holt County Cancer Society and lifetime member of the O'Neill Presbyterian Church. She loved flowers, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.

Gloria is survived by two sons ,Richard Morlang and wife Cindy of Grand Island and Vernon Morlang and wife Robin of Belton, MO; four grandchildren, Paul, Jon and Jeff Morlang and Kerri Lee Fisher; seven great-grandchildren; stepchildren, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joan Brunick of Blackhawk, SD, and Inez Nowlin of Hico, Texas and one brother, Leonard McElhaney of Edgemont, SD.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, George Morlang; second husband, Edward "Jimmy" Donohoe and one step son, Matt Donohoe.

Memorials may be made to the Nebraska Chapter of the American Parkinson Disease Association.
