The 2024 General Election looms closer with Election day on Tuesday, Nov. 5. Deadlines for the election are already here: • In-person at local election office: Oct. 25 by 6 p.m. CDT • Online: Oct. 18 by 11:59 p.m. CDT • By mail (postmarked by): Oct. 18 Absentee ballot deadlines. • Request ballot (received by): Oct. 25 by 6 p.m. CDT • Return ballot by mail (received by): Nov. 5 close of polls • Return ballot in person: Nov. 5 close of polls • Voting deadlines Early voting: Oct. 7 - Nov. 4 In-person: Nov. 5 The Presidential election should be a sweep in Nebraska. As of Tuesday, Oct. 22 former President Donald Trump leads over Vice President Kamala Harris 56.0 to 38.1. Although a staunch Republican State, one of Nebraska's Electoral votes look to go to Harris as polls show her leading over Trump 52-43 The race for Senate has been closer than Incumbent Deb Fischer would like to see running against Dan Osborn. To date, the race is neck and neck with Fischer having a slight one percent lead. Moving to the local scene Dustin Breiner will face challenger Terri L. Krysl for Holt County Supervisor District 2. In the O'Neill School District there are three spots open and four candidates running, including Phillip Boshart, Amy Jo Rowse, Mark Thompson and Aaron Sorensen. The City of O'Neill has one contested race with Kayla Burdick being challenged by Bill Price for Councilman of Ward I.
