Fonda Rae Holliday, age 70, a lifelong resident of the Orchard area, went to Heaven on Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at Avera St. Anthony's Hospital in O'Neill.

Memorial services were held on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Orchard with Pastor Eric Ford officiating. Special taped music was played for the service.

Inurnment was in the Orchard Hill Cemetery in Orchard.

Ashburn Funeral Home in Orchard was in charge of arrangements. Fonda was born on Dec. 7, 1941, at home in Orchard to Charles and Marie (Plooster) Menning. She graduated from Orchard Public High School in 1959 and went on to graduate from Norfolk School of Cosmetology. She worked as a beautician in a salon in Valentine as well as from her home in Orchard.

Fonda was married to the love of her life, Wayne Laverne Holliday, on Sept. 30, 1960. They adopted two children, Annette Marie and Brock Wayne.

As well as being a loving housewife, Fonda worked as a secretary at Holliday Implement for many years. When she moved to Norfolk she worked at Dale Electronics. Fonda attended Norfolk Community College and became a home health care specialist lovingly helping others until she retired.

She and Wayne were divorced for a period of time but remarried in the eyes of the Lord and in our hearts in O'Neill on Nov. 25, 2012.

She loved camping at the river, water skiing, boating, motorcycling, puzzles, reading, caring for others and spending time with family and friends.

Fonda was much loved by the community and everyone she met. She will be especially remembered as an amazing wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend to so many people. She gracefully and positively fought a valiant battle against lung cancer for nearly a year. She will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.

Fonda is survived by her husband, Wayne Holliday of Orchard; her daughter, Annette Marie McCain and Annette's significant other, Shane Borer of Columbus; her son, Brock Wayne Holliday and wife, Maria of Orchard; her sisters, Redella Woelfer of St. Louis, MO, and Loretta Watson of Norfolk; and a host of many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and in-laws.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Marie; father and step mother, Charles and Mae; brother, Floyd;  sister, Irene Menning and grandson, Matthew Lloyd McCain.
