Floyd Osborne
Floyd R. Osborne, age 83, of Dewey, AZ, formerly of Atkinson, passed away Monday, Aug. 27, 2012, at his home in Dewey, AZ.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Phoenix, AZ.
Floyd was born May 24, 1929, in Casper, WY, to Floyd Thomas and Helen (Malloy) Osborne. He was the first of five children. He grew up and attended school in the Atkinson area, graduating from Atkinson High School in 1949.
Floyd worked for a time on power line construction and road work. He later began working on the Charley Peterson Ranch south of Atkinson. While working there, Floyd met and married the love of his life, Ruth Schowalter, to whom he was married for the next 60 years.
Floyd and Ruth and their young son, Glenn, spent time living in Virginia while Floyd served his country in the Army. After his discharge in 1957, they lived in Omaha where their second son, Chris, was born.
Floyd drove a truck for Safeway Stores until 1972. He transferred his employment with Safeway to Tempe, AZ, where he enjoyed his driving job until retiring in 1992.
Floyd and Ruth enjoyed traveling, camping and visiting relatives after retirement.
Floyd is survived by his wife, Ruth; two sons, Glenn and Chris and his wife, Ester and grandchildren Crystal and Victor, all of Arizona; a sister, Rose Swenson; one brother, Tom Osborne and his wife, Sandy of Atkinson; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jim and one sister, Mary.
